United Association Local 46 (UA 46) is a Toronto-based Union made up of over 10,207 highly-skilled Plumbers, Steamfitters, and Welders. Our standards are the highest in the piping trades

NOTICE OF APPRENTICE INTAKE

After a review by Local 46 and the Mechanical Contractors, the Joint Training and Apprenticeship Committee of Local 46 will be accepting applications for apprenticeship in the trades of Plumbing and Steamfitting. 

The process will be administered solely online. Please note that an apprentice with Local 46 is expected to independently get to any job site within the Local 46 jurisdiction, extending from Ajax to Burlington, north to Huntsville, and west to Collingwood.

In addition, you should be aware of the scope of each trade, along with the physical requirement of the trade.

Application Process:

Applications for apprenticeships within Local 46 will be available online only. Aptitude testing will also take place online; applicants will require a computer or tablet with a forward-facing camera.

The cost of the application will be approximately $45.00, which is payable online at the time of registration to the third-party administrator. All applicants must use their own email address; those applicants using another person’s email address will not be assessed.

Applications will be available online beginning on July 4, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. The link to the applications will be on the Local 46 website and will be active until July 17, 2022, at 8:00 p.m. Applicants must have their high school transcript and any other documentation they wish to submit available electronically to upload during the application process.

*Note: It must be clearly understood that only applicants meeting the above requirements shall be considered by the Joint Training and Apprenticeship Committee.

Individuals who have previously applied must reapply. All previous applications are now null and void.

DO NOT CONTACT THE TRAINING DEPARTMENT OR VISIT THE OFFICE REGARDING THE APPLICATION PROCESS. THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY INFORMATION.

Entrance Requirement:

  • Grade 12 Diploma
  • Grade 12 Math
  • Grade 11 or 12 Physics and Chemistry
  • Valid G Drivers license
  • Completion of math, science, and mechanical aptitude test
