Who We Are: Scarborough Transit Connect (STC) has been awarded the design and early works of the Scarborough Subway Extension project. The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometers farther into Scarborough. It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT), helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs, schools, and other key destinations throughout the city.

About the job

As part of the Scarborough Transit Connect project, we are looking for a qualified M&E Superintendent to join our team.


What You Will Do:

  • Promote safety in all activities and engage in safe work plan development, hazard assessments, FLRAs and mentorship with crew.
  • Provide guidance to team members by leading safety meetings and inspections.
  • Track and report project, quality control, resource requirements and customer or employee relations to the Project Manager.
  • Drive quality, efficiency and productivity of work crews.
  • Direct M&E Subcontractor on productivity issues and monitor the work performance, working with the Subcontractor and crews to overcome challenges.
  • Follow project plans and budget while ensuring the Subcontractors, Foreman and crews perform to meet production goals.
  • Assist the Subcontractor to translate drawings, specifications and work requirements into a prioritized work plan.
  • Understand the scope and sequencing of work, plan and prioritize the work, effectively redirecting crews and equipment to assigned tasks and minimize downtime on sites.
  • Coordinate scopes and prioritize access for multiple trades and Subcontractors to deliver project on time.
  • Work with the Project Manager to periodically reassess daily goals to meet forecasted production, schedules and budgets.
  • Build and maintain a strong functional team through instruction, training, coaching and team building.
  • Ensure work completed meets quality standards, that preparation and submittal of required reports, documentation and logs are completed.
  • Oversee the approval of daily production records and reporting on work progress. Taking in to account the different phases of work and change orders and extras
  • Daily site report, quality control inspections and checklists.
  • Verify Materials received by Subcontractors is compliant with approved shop drawings and project specifications.
  • Record and report of violations or disciplinary actions.
  • HSE inspections and reports.
  • Review Foreman records and track all rental items, ensure returns are completed and documented.


Experience You Will Bring:

  • Post secondary education in either mechanical or electrical engineering or 10 years’ experience as a journeyman in Mechanical or Electrical trades.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a supervisory position in the construction industry.
  • Minimum 10 years experience with mechanical or electrical focus.
  • Exceptional ability to multitask in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Must have a valid Drivers License.
  • Ability to work the project schedule which may include overtime, weekends and/or night shift when required.
