Senior Mechanical and Electrical Coordinator

Position Description:

Reporting to the Director, Mechanical, Electrical and Commissioning, the Senior Mechanical and Electrical Coordinator is responsible for coordination of all Mechanical and Electrical activities on site during pre-construction planning, construction of the project, and warranty period.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor the construction, start-up, and commissioning of the mechanical, electrical, communication, security, and life safety systems on assigned projects.
• Review and understand prime contract and building systems subcontract details including design drawings, specifications, applicable codes, shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, SI and change orders.
• Assist the Project Team to ensure the project complies with engineering standards, codes, drawings, and specification
• Work with BIM coordinator and subcontractors through clash detection process.
• Assist Project Managers and Superintendents in reviewing mechanical and electrical RFI’s, investigate problems and assist in developing solutions for issues with mechanical and electrical systems.
• Prepare mechanical, electrical, and commissioning schedule data for integration with overall project schedule.
• Participate in regular project walkthroughs to confirm M&E work is proceeding according to contract documents, coordination drawings, and approved submittals.
• Facilitate execution of turnover process including start-up, testing, commissioning, development of operation and maintenance manuals, securing warranties and guaranties, training, as well as obtaining spare parts and specialty tools that culminate in successful acceptance of all systems.
• Ensure compliance with Buttcon’s Policy & Procedures Manual

Qualifications

• Engineering degree (Electrical or Mechanical) or diploma, or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience
• Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods), industry practices, estimating/budgeting, scheduling and safety requirements
• Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering principles, standards, and systems
• PMP Certification an asset
• Gold Seal Certified an asset
• LEED Accredited an asset
• Computer literate, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Project
• Procore and BIM software knowledge an asset

Working Conditions and Environment

• Primary work locations are Head Office and Project Sites
• Project related travel anticipated
• Exposure to construction work site environment in all seasons
