Looking for a new and exciting job opportunity? We are currently seeking for a General Armature Winder/Analyzer to join the Streetcar Maintenance Department. The position involves working Day Shift (7:00am - 3:30pm) with Saturday and Sunday Off Days as assigned.


What You Will Do


  • You will be responsible to carry out final inspections and quality control testing of all repaired armatures, field coils and solenoids etc. to ensure that they meet operational specifications and function correctly.
  • You will inspect and perform various operational and quality testing on repaired armatures in order to detect malfunctions or armatures that do not meet quality standards; repairing these units or returning them to the appropriate section with instruction for further repair.
  • You will conduct simulated operational tests to ensure all repaired armatures conform with specifications and correct operating characteristics before they are released for usage.
  • You will carry out troubleshooting, inspection, analysis and repair of armatures in order to determine the reasons for faulty operation.
  • You will perform all phases of winding and repairing of various types of armatures.
  • You will complete testing troubleshooting, winding, balancing, soldering banding, dipping, undercutting, turning, insulating and varnishing (vacuum pressure impregnation) of armatures as required.
  • You will apply appropriate string banding material to all armatures as required.
  • You will provide repair instructions to General Armature Winders regarding armatures that do not satisfy quality standards.
  • You will also complete job and time cards, work tickets and defect tags. Additionally you will be required to complete other routine forms, records or reports, including minor written reports on work inspected, etc.


What Qualifications Do You Bring


  • Your education will consist of a completed secondary, technical program, or its equivalent as defined by the Training Department's guidelines for the assessment of grade 12 technical program.
  • Your application will reveal must ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Your application must reveal that you have successfully completed courses approved by the T.T.C. in electrical theory {alternating and direct current).
  • Your application must reveal that you have successfully completed courses approved by the T.T.C. in A.C. Equipment, D.C. Equipment & Controls {equivalent to Community College level courses) or have proof of equivalent specialized training.
  • Additionally, you must have successfully completed the 16 month training program for Armature Winders.
  • Your application will also reveal practical experience and knowledge in troubleshooting, repairing, inspection, testing and rewinding of armatures, field coils, solenoids etc. from a variety of A.C. and D.C. motors.
