What You Will Do

Reporting to Manager, Design and Development Reviews, the Technical Review Lead (TRL) is responsible for overseeing and conducting Technical Review submittals for Metrolinx projects using design build delivery method and/or capital and development projects. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating various components of one or more projects reviews concurrently. Each assigned undertaking may contain numerous submittals, including contract documents, requests for information (RFI’s), meeting minutes, presentations, work plans, study reports, and cost estimation as required. This also includes detailed administration of the work including ensuring all submittals have been reviewed by TTC, all TTC comments have been addressed, all review tracking sheets have been updated to reflect current status, all completed and reviewed documents have been filed in document management system in accordance with the established project filing protocol for the department. Chair or attend project meetings to overview technical review progress, resolve the conflicts and outstanding review comments and their responses. This also includes demonstrating behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment as well as helping to remove barriers and accommodating employees and customers (within their area of responsibility) in accordance with TTC’s commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC’s policies. Participating in the TTC Customer Service Ambassador Program is a requirement.

Might require visits to construction sites or Metrolinx offices, surface and subway transit areas, operations and administrative facilities, having a variety of on-site environments/conditions all of which can take place outside normal working hours.


What Skills Do You Bring?

  • Comprehensive knowledge of current engineering principles and practices
  • Comprehensive knowledge of technical review principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with project management information systems and reporting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction techniques and practices, contract administration, construction inspection, and knowledge of the Construction Act.


What Qualifications Do You Bring?

  • University degree in a relevant engineering discipline, or in Architecture, combined with extensive experience in the areas of projects/construction and engineering management of heavy construction and/or large multi-disciplined projects.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer or licensed Architect in the Province of Ontario.
  • Registration as a Project Manager Professional (PMP) with a PMI is an asset
  • A valid Province of Ontario Class G driver’s licence would be an asset. May be required use of own vehicle required for visits to construction sites that are not easily accessible by public transits.
