Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Advisor, Talent Acquisition and Training (maternity leave replacement) will oversee talent acquisition, training and developmental needs for employees at Sika Canada across Central and Western Canada. Reporting to the Executive Vice President of Human Resources, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our staffing needs and ensuring a seamless onboarding experience for new hires.
Responsibilities
TA Component
- Theme: building trust with external candidates and internal employees
- Resource for employees throughout the hiring, onboarding day to day and offboarding experiences.
- Work with and support all levels of the organization not just in Canada but abroad
- Building rapport and trust with key stakeholders in the organization
- Various recruiting channels and strategies to attract and retain top talent
- Work to increase the visibility and value of Sika through social media, etc.
- Reporting
- Conduct the entire recruitment and selection process from start to finish with hiring managers and work collaboratively providing advice and suggestions throughout.
- Onboarding – orientation schedule, make sure that employees get off on the right foot from the start
- Provide guidance on recruitment to hiring managers and candidates and inform them on procedures and policies, including those defined by the union
Training component
- Act as an advocate for employee growth through providing and promoting a learning culture
- Implement surveys, training offerings, etc. etc.
- Ensure government requirements are met
- Follow and share/promote/enforce the training request process
Other
- Event coordination
- Work with other members of HR team on various initiatives
- Propose new ideas to contribute and grow the positive corporate culture
Qualifications
- Minimum of a post-secondary Diploma in a related field with at least two (2) years of HR experience focused on recruitment; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
- Experience in a unionized environment, is advantageous
- The ideal candidate will have experience in a high volume, quick turn-over recruiting environment
- CHRP certification preferred
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to manage priorities independently
- Exceptional customer service-oriented approach
- Utilize curiosity to learn and adapt in a high-volume environment
- Familiarity with HRIS systems, Onboarding applications, Applicant Tracking Systems, and Microsoft Office, including Excel
- Proactive mindset towards process improvement initiatives
WORKING CONDITIONS/ PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Work indoors, in an office with air conditioning and heating, where applicable.
- Will be required to visit manufacturing plants with or around moving machinery/equipment.
- Moderate level of occupational stress due to adapting to situations, meeting deadlines and managing workload.
- Ergonomic workspace provided
- This hybrid position, with a minimum of 3 on-site days per week, requires regular presence at our various sites, requiring availability to travel 10-25% of the time.
