Looking for a new and exciting job opportunity? We are looking for a Director – Engineering Services to join our team! You will lead our RAMS, Product Launch and QA, and new vehicle warranty teams to support TTC’s new vehicle and electrification infrastructure procurements.
What You Will Do
- You will be responsible for leading, developing and updating strategies, standards, plans, and procedures to meet vehicle procurement, and major overhauls, and renewable energy and charging infrastructure project requirements with the aim of maximizing production quality and service reliability, availability, maintainability and safety (RAMS) of TTC’s revenue vehicles and related systems, including: subway, streetcar, bus, wheel-trans, and charging infrastructure and renewable energy.
- You will assist in the plans for the acquisition of new vehicles, shop and carhouse facilities, equipment and programs.
- You will develop and/or refine strategies, standards, plans and procedures to meet and/or exceed RAMS, QA, Product Launch, and warranty requirements, ensuring all phases of vehicle and charging and renewable energy infrastructure programs are appropriately designed and supported with appropriate resources.
- You will develop Product Launch plans to ensure new vehicles and systems are seamlessly integrated into existing infrastructure and processes.
- You will provide support and guidance to Vehicle Programs engineering, Renewable Energy Programs engineering and project management teams in incident investigations and for input to relevant maintenance procedure development, project management and special modification programs.
- You will also effectively lead and manage all section employees and operations, including overseeing work performed by external consultants and suppliers.
- Additionally, you will foster and promote a safe working environment through effective training and leadership practices.

What Qualifications Do You Bring
- Your education will consist of a completed university degree in engineering or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario is required.
- Your application will reveal extensive experience managing large and complex vehicle and infrastructure procurement and/or overhaul programs with demonstrated ability to motivate subordinate staff to achieve established goals and objectives, and effectively deal with employees in stressful situations, and resolve complex issues.
- Your application must also detail in-depth knowledge of Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety (RAMS), Quality Assurance, and Product Launch concepts and practices associated with fleet and related infrastructure maintenance management.
- You must have specialized knowledge of relevant vehicle and related infrastructure maintenance principles, practices, associated technology, and related trades and disciplines.
- Your application will reveal familiarity with rail vehicle (subway/streetcar) and/or automotive vehicle technology and associated equipment, including strong knowledge of the various maintenance management systems.
- You must have good knowledge of business administration, including budgeting principles and practices, and business judgement supported by well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
- You must also have excellent organizational and interpersonal, supported by effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Your application will also reveal proficiency in the use of computers and familiar with, or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of TTC computerized systems, such as Maximo, Subway/Streetcar Maintenance System, Vehicle Maintenance Systems (VMS), Fuel Management Systems, Materials Systems, and Job Based Cost Systems.
