We are looking for a Solicitor to join our Legal team!


What You Will Do

Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, you will be acting as counsel to the TTC with a primary focus on labour & employment, human rights and safety related matters.


  • As Solicitor, you will be responsible for the Day-to-day handling, including advocacy, of labour grievances, human rights and employment litigation matters.
  • You will be representing the TTC as legal counsel at labour arbitrations, the Ontario Labour Relations Board, Ontario Human Rights Tribunal and at Court.
  • To this end, you will be reviewing evidence gathered by various TTC Departments.
  • Gathering required evidence and interviewing potential witnesses for a case.
  • You will draft facta, motion records, appeal records and other court and tribunal documents.
  • As Solicitor, you will be providing day-to-day guidance and opinions on various labour & employment, human rights and safety related matters.
  • Ensuring timely reporting of performance results and/or sensitive issues to the Associate General Counsel.
  • You will be required to participate in the TTC Customer Service Ambassador Program.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

  • Your educational background including a Bachelor of Laws degree or a Juris Doctorate and must be a member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario is integral and will contribute to the success in this role.
  • Your application will demonstrate your experience as a Labour & Employment and Human Rights Lawyer with a minimum 3 years of labour & employment and/or human rights experience gained at an in-house legal department or major law firm.
  • As Solicitor, a strong understanding of labour arbitration, workers’ compensation, occupational health and safety, and the Ontario Human Rights Code as well as the preparation of related documentation.
  • Your solid experience in legal work related to labour arbitration, employment, WSIAT and/or human rights matters is required.
  • Your application will demonstrate thorough familiarity with research methods and techniques,
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Your sound judgment, strong organizational, analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills is required.
