ONxpress Operations Inc. (OOI) is shaping the future of transit in the Greater Golden Horseshoe area. With a long-term partnership with Metrolinx, OOI will oversee the operations and maintenance of the GO Transit rail network and Union Pearson Express, as part of the groundbreaking GO Expansion program. Accountability

The Operator Facilities in the rail industry is responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of facilities and equipment associated with rail operations. This role ensures that all facilities are operating efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory standards. Duties include monitoring, maintaining, and repairing equipment, as well as ensuring the cleanliness and functionality of rail facilities.


Responsibilities

  • Monitoring and effectively maintaining the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and repairs of the complex’s HVAC equipment (including boilers, chillers, air handlers, pumps, motors, fans, VFD’s, compressors, etc.), life safety systems, building automation systems and lighting systems.
  • Regular water testing and treatment of all open and closed loops and the addition of chemicals based on the results of those tests.
  • Timely responses/resolutions of all client requests and ensuring there is on-going communication with tenants regarding any mechanical/HVAC issues.
  • Maintaining all facility equipment through the CMMS system, emphasizing energy efficiency, equipment life cycle, and regulatory/environmental guidelines.
  • Liaising with service providers and contractors, ensuring their work is performed in a safe manner and to OOI FAM standards.
  • Assisting in developing energy priorities for building systems to keep in line with sustainability practices and objectives, including daily energy management of HVAC and lighting systems.
  • General maintenance and other duties as requested or assigned.
  • Complete preventive/demand maintenance tasks (chemical treatment maintenance, filter changes, belt replacement, lubrications, cleaning of utility rooms, maintenance of fire prevention systems, testing and inspecting equipment).
  • Inspect, operate, maintain, and repair boilers, chillers, HVAC equipment, pumps, generators, uninterruptible power supplies, life safety system, etc.
  • Monitor electrical power distribution system, building automation system, and respond to alarms expeditiously and methodically.
  • Perform minor repairs: replace washers/faucets; clear sinks toilets and drains; replace pumps/motors; reset breakers, etc.
  • Ensure maximum energy efficiency, inspect/operate/maintain and repair mechanical/electrical systems and equipment (including boilers, chillers, HVAC equipment, pumps, generators, life safety system, etc.).
  • Ensure all equipment are operated in a safe and efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable government codes and regulations.


Education & Qualifications

  • High-School Diploma, or GED.
  • Knowledge and understanding of HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical systems and BAS.


Certification & Designations

  • Building Environment System certificate or a trade license (BES 1 and/or 2).


Experience

  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of technical and mechanical building operations experience.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience operating HVAC equipment, plumbing, electrical, BAS, and Life Safety Systems in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to read blueprints as applied to technical areas.
  • Must obtain and maintain necessary security/railway clearance.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and/or working at heights.

Safety-Sensitive Positions: This role is designated Safety-Sensitive under OOI’s Fitness for Duty Policy. Applicants selected for this position will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test (as applicable) and will be subject to drug and/or alcohol testing under relevant circumstances in accordance with OOI’s Fitness For Duty Policy.
