ONxpress Transportation Partners (ONxpress) will transform transit as they begin work on the design, construction and operation of new and modern GO rail services as part of the Metrolinx On-Corridor GO Rail Expansion program. The multi-billion dollar project will transform the GO regional rail network with electrification, more frequent service, shorter journey times and a more modernized system and services for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. ONxpress is comprised of an international partnership that brings established expertise to each area of the project: Aecon Construction Group, ALSTOM Transport Canada, DB International Operations, Part of DB E.C.O. Group, and FCC Canada Ltd. have come together to deliver on Metrolinx's vision that will transform GO transit rail service. The Project will bring frequent, all day, two-way rail service to the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. The investment will generate thousands of new jobs and create economic opportunities across the region. The project will include adding over 200 kilometres of new track and electrifying over 600 kilometres of track. A new electric train fleet will also be introduced. The GO Expansion project also includes a re-design of Union Station platforms, upgraded track and signal technology, plus new quieter, cleaner electric locomotives that will improve the passenger experience. ONxpress Operations Inc. (OOI) is shaping the future of transit in the Greater Golden Horseshoe area. With a long-term partnership with Metrolinx, OOI will oversee the operations and maintenance of the GO Transit rail network and Union Pearson Express, as part of the groundbreaking GO Expansion program. The ideal candidate will be responsible for all building and railway electrical systems within the portfolio, ensuring their optimum lifespan and performance. They should possess expertise in installing and maintaining a wide range of electrical systems.


Responsibilities

As an Electrician with our Rail Operator Organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the seamless operation of our rail systems. Your expertise will be essential in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting various electrical components and systems. You will collaborate with a diverse team of professionals, adhering to safety protocols and regulatory standards, while also contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret electrical and architectural drawings, and follow code specifications.
  • Install and manage electrical systems like Pull cables, install cable trays, wire lighting fixtures, plugs, switches, and control panels.
  • Medium Voltage Handling: Perform medium voltage terminations safely.
  • Test and Inspect test circuits for integrity and safety using advanced equipment. Regularly inspect and troubleshoot electrical systems and components.
  • Diagnose and fix defective circuits, perform detailed troubleshooting, and execute necessary repairs and modifications to minimize downtime.
  • Log and complete work orders in our CMMS with comprehensive follow-up.
  • Recommend and implement solutions for recurring reliability issues, ensuring minimal impact on rail operations.
  • Communicate technical activities and issues effectively to team members and supervisors.
  • Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and production teams, and coordinate effectively with external contractors.
  • Conscientiously document and update electrical drawings and daily maintenance logs.
  • Adhere to all relevant codes, legislation, and safety regulations, including lock-out, tag-out procedures.
  • Follow assigned preventative maintenance tasks to ensure system reliability.
  • Contribute to a collaborative work environment and mentor junior electricians.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized.
  • Manage frequent gripping, bending, stooping, and working at elevated heights. Stand and work on your feet for extended periods.
  • Work a flexible schedule to support rail operations and handle multitasking in a fast-paced environment.


Education & Qualifications

  • High-School Diploma, or GED.
  • Electrician qualification certificate.


Certification & Designations

  • Certified Ontario Electrician


Desired Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of technical and mechanical building operations experience.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with HVAC equipment, plumbing, electrical systems, BAS, and Life Safety Systems in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to read blueprints related to technical areas.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 60 Lbs. and safely use ladders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must obtain and maintain necessary security/railway clearance.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.

Safety-Sensitive Positions: This role is designated Safety-Sensitive under OOI’s Fitness for Duty Policy.
