Accountability
Infrastructure Fault Controller is responsible for coordinating & dispatching FAM technical personnel, contractors, consultants regarding faults and or events to generate work orders by category and priority based on real time compliance and adherence to the deliverables within the PA.
Responsibilities
- Assist and guide others for adherence to Integrated CMMS Work Control and Maintenance Procedures, maintaining a high level of standard.
- Endorsing the development and improvement of the OOI/FAM preventative maintenance program(s) and initiatives.
- Interface with customers and maintenance work groups to determine, corrective and or preventative maintenance requirements of any incoming fault/event to meet Operations & Maintenance using OOI library(O&M Manual)/OOI Symbio SOP’s requirements.
- Facilitating preventative maintenance tasks through coordination of work activities with other work groups.
- Providing planning support for work activities using the planning process incorporating a thorough understanding of the Fam ZEDAS computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Enhancing safety culture and organizational excellence through leadership, accountability, communication and process improvement.
- Assisting customer groups with development of maintenance plans and coordination of schedules by reviewing and suggesting required changes.
- Reviewing and tracking all regulatory and operational site excellence preventative and corrective work order completion metrics.
- Participating in improvements to optimize Resource Capacity Forecasting to assist cross functional teams in achieving site wide compliance requirements.
- Providing forecast of trade resource requirements for preventative maintenance work, as required.
- Assisting maintenance work groups with a clear understanding of planned work and satisfying customer requests for work related information such as status of requests, scope of work, and impact on other activities.
- Generating the preventative maintenance (PM) Work Orders (WO) for distribution to associated work groups. Such as FAM FTE’s, 3 rd Party sub-contractors, consultants
- Updating OOI FAM Work-Orders, SharePoint site in order for user groups to obtain current information in regard to maintenance in their perspective work areas.
- Researching history/status of WOs using information/description obtained from the trades staff.
- Responding to queries from equipment/building Facility Managers
- Conferring with facility managers, team members to determine progress of work where extended time periods or job deferrals may be required.
- Providing notification to customers on any delays and post these updates on the Work Control log, and or SharePoint site.
- Providing planning support by coordinating materials and resources with maintenance work orders and managing the material in the Kanban area.
- Liaising with Procurement and vendors to ensure acquisitions are timely and cost effective.
Education & Qualifications
- CET or red seal trades discipline(s) considered an asset, BES level 1 & 2
- Completion of a diploma is Business Administration, Transportation, or related field – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years hands-on experience with planning and preparation of preventative management documentation.
- Knowledge of CMMS work management systems, facility maintenance processes and associated software.
Certifications or Designations
- IMS 100 and 200

- Must be able to work irregular shifts, alternate shifts, including, weekends, and nights and holidays, as required; Ability to work in a fast-paced, high stress and safety critical environment;
- Demonstrated ability to make safety- and time-sensitive decisions and prioritize complex tasks;
- Excellent communication skills (verbal/written) with the ability to communicate clearly in English under stressful, safety-critical incidents;
- Ability to spot deviations or discrepancies and take action to correct them in real-time;
- Strong ability to coordinate schedules and make ad-hoc adjustments as needed;
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with other Controllers, Train Crews, internal and external stakeholders;
- Experience overseeing and coordinating multiple aspects of transit operations;
- Analytical, critical thinker with the ability to solve problems and make rapid, safety focused decision;
- Understanding of Lean Management & Continuous Improvement;
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office applications and the ability to gain competence in job-specific software applications;
- Experience in shift and equipment rostering as well as shift assignment;
- Excellent knowledge in Labor Law and relevant Unions Agreements;
- Usage of Operational IT Systems;
- Usage of Turret and UHF Radio;
- Excellent knowledge of GO Transit network including railway operating principals, and focus on railway vehicles;
- Strong customer focus with the goal of providing the best possible service for GO Transit customers.
