Description

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated BIM Expert (Modelling/ Designing) who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate has a solid experience in rail context. The position is based in Toronto, Canada.

Accountabilities:

Typical accountabilities of BIM Coordinator as per international rules and best practices in the rail context. In detail:


  • Manage and coordinate the BIM process
  • Manage Schedule, Risks, and Issues related to BIM
  • Production and control of federated models.
  • Model setup - ensuring the discipline models are suitable for inclusion into the federated models.
  • Setup and maintain coordinate systems for import and export.
  • Implement the Quality Assurance/Quality Control Procedures.
  • Combine or link shared models.
  • Data maintenance within models.
  • Identify model coordination issues.
  • Participate in coordination meetings.
  • Verify model Level of Information.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the Project BIM Manager.
  • Ensure the application of quality procedures for the emissions of the documents at every stage of the design;
  • Ensure there are no risks not assessed with respect to the safety of the works designed and compared to budgeted costs;
  • Ensure the verification of the interfaces alignment and that each step is managed and properly addressed;
  • Ensure the identification of critical issues in the development of the project and propose mitigation actions;
  • The use of BIM for interfaces definition and management, as part of the project delivery strategy according to the Engineering Management Plan.


Required Skills/ Knowledge:

8-10 year operative overall competence and experience in railway engineering context and BIM Designinin accordance with ISO 19650 especially developed in the area of Civil works and railway Systems Design/Commissioning and Requirement/Interface management. Additional expertise in the railways contexts is considered as a plus.

Knowledge Expected:

Basic competencies:


  • Civil Works in railway context (buildings, viaducts, tunnels, etc.): design, installation, operation and maintenance
  • Railway Trackworks systems: design, installation, operation and maintenance
  • Basic about the Railway Systems: signaling, traction power (catenary included), telecommunication, MEPS, depot equipment, Rolling Stocks.
  • Technical support for contract matters;
  • Requirements and Interfaces definition/consolidation and management;
  • Familiar with Requirement Traceability Matrix and the Interface Registers tools, implemented in BIM (Building Information Modelling) context, using also a specific Common Data Environments (CDEs).
  • Design management of contractors and sub-contractor activities: contract requirements and design processes-control;
  • Full cycle basic-experience also in construction and test & commissioning phases.

  • Proven expertise of BIM Process implemented in accordance with the international rules and best practices.
