ONxpress Transportation Partners (ONxpress) will transform transit as they begin work on the design, construction and operation of new and modern GO rail services as part of the Metrolinx On-Corridor GO Rail Expansion program. The multi-billion dollar project will transform the GO regional rail network with electrification, more frequent service, shorter journey times and a more modernized system and services for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. ONxpress is comprised of an international partnership that brings established expertise to each area of the project: Aecon Construction Group, ALSTOM Transport Canada, DB International Operations, Part of DB E.C.O. Group, and FCC Canada Ltd. have come together to deliver on Metrolinx's vision that will transform GO transit rail service. The Project will bring frequent, all day, two-way rail service to the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. The investment will generate thousands of new jobs and create economic opportunities across the region. The project will include adding over 200 kilometres of new track and electrifying over 600 kilometres of track. A new electric train fleet will also be introduced. The GO Expansion project also includes a re-design of Union Station platforms, upgraded track and signal technology, plus new quieter, cleaner electric locomotives that will improve the passenger experience. ONxpress Transportation Partners (OTP) was chosen by Metrolinx and Infrastructure Ontario (IO) to enter the Development Phase of the On-Corridor Works project – the largest project in Metrolinx’s GO Expansion. Unprecedented in its scale and complexity, this multi-billion dollar capital program will transform the GO regional rail network with electrification, more frequent service, shorter journey times and a more modernized system for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. ONxpress Operations Inc. (OOI) has been engaged by OTP to manage and oversee the efficient and effective operations and maintenance of the GO Trains and Union Pearson Express.

Accountability

  • Reports to Facilities Manager’s and Supervisors


Responsibilities

  • Maintain OOI Facility installations, PM maintenance, and repair of light and or heavy machinery and equipment used in processes and or facilities. This can include a wide range of equipment, air handling units, boilers, hydraulic systems, conveyor systems, pumps, compressors, and other industrial type machinery.
  • Repair, rebuild and perform preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Weld, repair, and perform maintenance of hydraulic and mechanical systems, gearboxes, machine tools, gas furnaces and overhead cranes.
  • Capable of rebuilding hydraulic cylinders and accumulators along with basic welding skills
  • Maintain standard housekeeping (5S) in the Maintenance area.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required and appointment by management.
  • Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of equipment.
  • Performs simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
  • Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of machines.
  • Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnoses problems, replaces or repairs parts, tests, and adjusts accordingly.
  • Performs regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and facilities.
  • Uses a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Detects faulty operations, defective material, and reports those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
  • Complies with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas.
  • Completes all necessary reports and records related to the department as required.
  • Adhere to departmental procedures and systems, e.g., "systems for preventative maintenance", "maintenance requisitions", scheduled work and continued quality improvement/risk management programs.
  • Keeps current with ongoing changes and new technology and adapt accordingly.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, installs, and maintains various electrical components, and equipment in accordance with pertinent codes, the preventative maintenance program and departmental procedures.
  • Performs scheduled preventative maintenance checks of all electrical alarms.
  • Troubleshoots, installs, and repairs plumbing fixtures, piping, and related equipment.
  • Performs mechanical and preventative maintenance work on equipment as per preventative maintenance manual, e.g., circulating pumps, air handling systems, etc.
  • Prepares purchase orders to secure needed supplies.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or needed.


Education & Qualifications

  • High-School Diploma, or GED.
  • Completion of an apprenticeship program or ticketed Millwright.
  • Ontario or Red Seal interprovincial: Industrial Mechanic Millwright Certificate of Qualification (433A);
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an industrial environment.
  • Licensed Journeyman


Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of technical and mechanical building operations experience.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience operating Pumps, bearing replacements, hydraulics, welding, HVAC equipment, plumbing, electrical, BAS, and Life Safety Systems in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to read blueprints as applied to technical areas.
  • Exceptional skills in communication, organization, customer service, interpersonal and time management.
  • Must obtain and maintain necessary security/railway clearance.

Safety-Sensitive Positions: This role is designated Safety-Sensitive under OOI’s Fitness for Duty Policy.
