Who We Are: Scarborough Transit Connect (STC) has been awarded the design and early works of the Scarborough Subway Extension project. The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometers farther into Scarborough. It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT), helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs, schools, and other key destinations throughout the city.

About the job

As part of the Scarborough Transit Connect project, we are looking for a Project Manager (Structural / Architectural) to join our team. As a Project Manager you will be accountable for ensuring all construction project management activities are successfully executed.


What You Will Do:

  • Establishes construction infrastructure and critical path.
  • Establishing and maintaining project budget
  • Enforces change procedures
  • Establishes schedule and staffing plans
  • Executes contracts and agreements in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Chairs project management meetings with a focus on the best outcomes for the project.
  • Ensures all project reporting is accurate and timely
  • Oversees testing, quality, and safety
  • Manages client and vendor relationship
  • Project risks and issues are logged and managed
  • Ensures all project close-out activities are completed in a timely manner
  • Demonstrates commercial acumen to protect profits and improve margins
  • Business development, including participation in costing and estimating activities and risk analysis
  • Financial forecasting and contributing to creation of revenue targets
  • Ensure that contracts are kept current and being updated with change orders on a regular basis.
  • Ensures that all functions and operations on the job are in compliance with local legislative requirements.
  • Maintain a positive project culture, keeping morale high, through frequent check-ins on progress and career development
  • Liaise with necessary subcontractors, union representatives and regulatory bodies to ensure work can proceed as planned
  • Creation of a detailed construction schedule, in consultation with the overall project schedule
  • Must develop in-depth understanding of applicable scope, with knowledge of the work that is contracted and agreed upon between the project/site and client
  • Create detailed look-ahead schedule (look ahead window as determined by project), ensuring proper staffing and materials are available when required


Experience You Will Bring:

  • Post-secondary education in engineering, construction management, or equivalent discipline
  • Knowledge and/or experience of the rail industry is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of progressive experience in civil construction, buildings, Utilities, or related disciplines is required.
  • General knowledge of non-residential construction methods, building systems, and terminology
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines for normal functions and special assignments.
  • Proficiency using MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access) is essential, experience of using estimating software is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Skilled at building positive working relationships with internal and external clients
  • Good listening and communication skills.
