Overview Crosslinx Transit Solutions (CTS) is a consortium comprised of EllisDon, SNC-Lavalin, Aecon and ACS - Dragados. CTS has been selected by Metrolinx and Infrastructure Ontario to deliver the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit Project and is seeking highly qualified, experienced personnel to join the team of this complex P3 design and construction project. The Commissioning Lead position is dedicated to the Commissioning team and will support in all areas of commissioning from planning through to execution as well as facilitating the solution of potential problems identified during commissioning. The Commissioning Lead will report to the Commissioning Manager and work in close coordination with the Commissioning Coordinators/Assistant and M&E Manager/Lead/ Coordinator for each facility or area.

Description

Responsibilities

  • Act as lead for testing and commissioning activities.
  • Understand and implement the Commissioning Strategy.
  • Develop and write Commissioning test documents based on contract documents and relevant Governing Codes, Standard and Regulations.
  • Ensure that all testing and commissioning results are recorded, and documentation is complete.
  • Manage reporting and close-out of commissioning deficiencies.
  • Provide technical information and interpretation of commissioning results.
  • Monitor installation of systems (fire suppression/mechanical/electrical/fire alarm) conformance to contract drawings to assist quality control and commissioning team.
  • Monitor design changes issued by Consultants and ensure they are captured onsite and in commissioning documentation.
  • Continually find solutions to conflicts in drawings and specifications by conferring with the Consultants (fire suppression/mechanical/electrical/fire alarm). Co-ordinate these solutions with the various sub-trades.
  • Review shop drawings for conformance with the contract documents and commissioning procedures.
  • Identify contract document conflicts and recommend solutions.
  • Ensuring construction work complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instruction.

Qualifications

  • Five to ten years experience in construction engineering, equivalent commissioning lead/specialist position or as a commissioning engineer.
  • Possession of a technical degree or diploma (or equivalent) in either fire systems, mechanical, electronic or electrical discipline.
  • Full working knowledge of governing Codes, Standards and Regulations is necessary.
    • Experience in fire protection systems design engineering including a working knowledge of all Canadian provincial and national building and fire codes, NFPA standards, and best practice guidelines related to installation, testing, storage and use related to suppression systems in building and rail systems is an asset
    • Understanding of Fire Alarm installation, verification reports and site acceptance tests with AHJs as required by CAN/ULC S537 and CAN/ULC S524 as they apply to building and rail systems is an asset
    • Technical electrical experience relevant to power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, communications, and security systems in buildings and rail systems is an asset
    • Technical mechanical experience with HVAC, and Plumbing systems serving building and rail systems is an asset
  • Problem solving skills and good initiative is an asset
  • Ability to assume responsibility, interface and communicate with others is a must.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm for challenge and new initiatives is preferred.
  • Sound knowledge of worksite safe working practices.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to read test procedures and understand requirements to perform the testing in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Able to chair meetings and produce minutes and retain written records.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office

Professional Designation

  • P.Eng.or equivalent in Ontario with experience in mechanical, electrical or fire protection/suppression engineering is an asset

  • Communicate with segment directors and on-site staff as required.
